New York State wants non-native cigarette smokers to pay a tax on each pack of cigarettes of about $4.35. This means that off brand cigarettes, which usually cost about $20 a carton, will be raised to $60 a carton. Name brand cigarettes, which range from $35 - $60 a carton, will be raised around $75-$105.
